Terms of Use

1. Who these terms are with

CrestronUbugga is made and provided by Lee James Apps (a trading name of Lee James), United Kingdom — "I" or "me" below. By downloading or using the software, or using this website, you accept these terms.

2. Your licence to use it

CrestronUbugga is free of charge. Install it on as many machines as you like and use it for personal or commercial work — commissioning, service calls, installs, whatever you do with it. No licence key, no account, no per-seat fee.

Anything you produce with it — your configurations, exports, backups, notes — is entirely yours. I claim no rights over your work or over the systems you connect to.

3. What you may not do

The software is not open source. Copyright in it stays with me. So please don't:

Sharing the download link is welcome — please point people at this website rather than mirroring the installer, so everyone gets the current build and can check the published hash. If you want to bundle or white-label it, email me and we'll talk.

4. ⚠ Live equipment — read this one properly

This is the clause that actually matters. CrestronUbugga connects to production control systems. Through it you can upload and clear program slots, edit a processor's IP table, change files over SFTP, reboot a processor, and drive signals directly with SETSIGNAL. Every one of those takes effect immediately on real hardware that may be running a live room, a courtroom, a boardroom, a theatre or a broadcast.

The software is not designed or certified for any safety-critical, life-safety, medical, industrial-control or emergency-systems application, and must not be used for one.

5. It's a beta

Version 1.0.0-beta.1 is an early public build. It has been developed and tested against real 3-series hardware, but it is version one written by one person. Expect bugs, expect behaviour to change between builds, and don't assume a feature works until you've proven it on your own kit.

6. No warranty

The software is provided "as is", with no warranties of any kind, express or implied, including as to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. I do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it is compatible with any particular processor, firmware version, program or network.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, I am not liable for any loss of profit, loss of business, loss of contracts, loss or corruption of data or programs, wasted expenditure, downtime, or any indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the software or this website — including any disruption to a control system or to an event running on one.

Because the software is supplied free of charge, my total liability to you for all claims is limited to £0, being the amount you paid for it.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you are a consumer, this does not affect your statutory rights.

8. Credentials and access

You are responsible for having the right to access every device you point the app at, and for the credentials you enter. The app stores them on your machine (see the Privacy Policy) and sends them only to the device you configured them for. It does not transmit them anywhere else.

9. Support and updates

There is no guaranteed support, response time, or commitment to future updates. In practice bugs get fixed and new builds appear. Email lee@leejamesapps.co.uk — reports are read. None of that is a contractual promise.

Nothing updates itself. The app has no auto-updater; you decide when to download a new build.

10. Third-party names and components

CrestronUbugga is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by Crestron Electronics, Inc. "Crestron", "SIMPL", "SIMPL Windows", "Toolbox", "XPanel" and related marks belong to their respective owners and are used descriptively, to say what the software is compatible with. The app communicates with processors using their own documented SSH, SFTP and console interfaces. Nothing is installed on the device.

The software is built on open-source components including Electron and Node.js, each under its own licence.

11. This website

I try to keep it accurate but make no promise that it is complete or current, and it may change or be taken down at any time. Verify the installer against the published SHA-256 before running it if that matters to you.

12. Changes to these terms

These terms may change. The date at the top changes with them, and continuing to use the software means accepting the current version.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere in the UK, you may also bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
